"My New Year's resolution is to lose weight and be healthier"......now what?

Did you know studies have shown that 80% of New Year's Resolutions fail....yikes! It seems like the start of a new year is a great time to make changes in your life but many people just aren't sure how to go about it.

Weight loss is only one part of a healthy lifestyle. In order to achieve your weight loss goals, we would encourage every patient to evaluate all parts of their health: mental, physical, spiritual and emotional. This is important because all parts must work together to achieve the greatest health outcome. We would also encourage patients to take it one step at a time. Weight loss can be a daunting task for patients to conquer. Having the right information, diet planning, and support can highly influence this process and lead to healthy lifestyle management.

If you decide to make a "resolution", make it specific. Resolutions like, "I want to lose weight", tend to be too general. Try something like, "I will lose at least 5 pounds in the next 60 days" or "I will drink at least three full glasses of water a day". Achieve that goal and then set another one! Making progress is key because it's a huge self esteem builder and before you know it all of those little achievements will add up to one big one.

If you are ready to take the important first step in improving your health and reach your weight loss goals, but still need a little help, consider contacting us here at Allied Health & Wellness for an appointment. We have years of experience helping people just like you achieve their goals....and...let's face it, "Health & Wellness" is what we do :)
